Thinking of booking a newborn session?

Blog

We are so fortunate and thankful to receive daily enquiries from soon to be mums regarding our newborn sessions, and understand that choosing the right photographer is a big decision to make – whether you have concerns about trusting the photographer to safely handle and pose your precious newborn, the financial investment or how daunting it can be thinking about leaving the house so soon after having your baby.  With this in mind, I thought it may be helpful to answer some of the questions we are asked most frequently, therefore, if you are considering booking a newborn session this could help put your mind at rest.  Of course, if you have any questions that I haven’t answered, please do not hesitate to contact me and I will be more than happy to help you.

What if my baby is early or late??

This is most definitely the number one question that every mummy booking a newborn session asks!  The answer is – don’t worry!  We book you a session based on your due date, in order to ensure that you have a confirmed slot in our diary.  When we hear the wonderful news that your little one has arrived, we will then change the date accordingly if you have been particularly early or late.  We keep a proportion of our diary open and flexible to allow for moving late/early mums, so please do not worry!

Will I really feel like leaving the house so soon after giving birth??

We know how it feels!  You are so shell shocked and exhausted, the thought of just getting dressed can be overwhelming!  We totally understand, which is why we have created a relaxed and calm environment.  We are very friendly and welcoming (as you will see from our incredible reviews) and once the session starts, you are welcome to read from our choice of magazines, nibble on our assortment of refreshments, have a coffee, tea or cold drink of your choice from the fridge in the studio, or sleep on our cosy huge sofa!  We are so busy focussing on your beautiful baby that you can feel comfortable doing whatever you wish for a couple of hours.

How do I choose a newborn photographer?  Why choose Lyn Braund Photography?

There are lots of newborn photographers in our area, and you may receive a number of different recommendations.  It is important that you feel totally comfortable and happy with whoever you choose as newborn photography is an investment – financially but also entrusting a photographer to pose your precious baby safely, and also create images that you are delighted with and will cherish for a lifetime.

Whoever you decide to choose, I urge you to ensure that they are fully trained in safely handling and posing newborn babies.  I take the safety of your baby extremely seriously, and have been trained (hands on) by one of the top UK newborn specialists. Your baby will be carefully cared for and in very safe hands whilst being photographed in our studio.  I am certified in Newborn Baby Posing, which encompasses the art of safely posing and handling newborns. I  am a proud member of BANPAS, which is the only UK association of leading baby and newborn photographers.  I am also a member of the Guild of Photographers and was recently awarded their prestigious ‘Qualified in Newborn/Baby photography’ status.  During the past 12 months, I have also been delighted to have my work recognised as ‘high standard’ by gaining in excess of 30 awards from the Guild, this is something I am hugely proud of as it demonstrates consistency in providing our families with the best standard of photography. I am continuing to train through a variety of workshops and seminars, ensuring that my skills are regularly updated and I am always raising my standards to stay ahead of my competition.  My most recent training (April 2018) was with the UK Photographer of the Year.

The cost of your session includes the use of my wide range of outfits, wraps, props and backdrops – I spend hours researching,  working with you to create a set up that you will love and be proud to display any of our images within your home.  I am very lucky that my studio is large and airy, with lots of natural light.   I do not restrict my families to a certain time frame, and will work for as long as it takes to provide you with a wide range of images to choose from.  I upload up to 50  images to your gallery for you to view at your leisure (you will not be forced to make a decision within a few days).

Do I really need to book before the baby is born?

YES PLEASE!  I receive so, so many enquiries from mums who are due very soon or have just had their babies, and I feel terrible that I more often than not have to turn them away.  We have a waiting list for every month between now and October, so although these mums are added to our list, we haven’t as yet received a cancellation so are therefore unable to accommodate them.  I urge you to book a slot as early as you are happy to in order to secure your session,  we will only ask you for 50% deposit at time of booking.

I hope this has helped provide you with some answers to the most common questions we are asked.  You may also like to take a look at my FAQ’s.   If you are interested in booking a session, please do not hesitate to contact me either via Facebook, Instagram, or email.

Thank you for taking the time to read this, and I hope to hear from you soon!
Lyn xxx
