I had the most wonderful morning meeting gorgeous Jemma and her beautiful Princess Phoebe. Jemma was so relaxed and chilled, and clearly so happily settling into her new role. Once Jemma had given Phoebe a feed, I made sure that she was comfortable surrounded by magazines, cake and refreshments…. It is always my pleasure to give newborn parents a little time out, and I love seeing them rewind and relax (dads often relax so much that they have a nap!). The calming white noise I use during the newborn shoots has an effect on the parents as well as the babies!
Phoebe was the perfect model, she moved easily into the poses and looked beautiful in all the of the colour options I had put aside for her. Posing newborn babies requires training and practice, and I am proud to say that I have trained and obtained qualifications with some of the most prestigious Newborn Posing Teachers in the country.
I was so happy that Jemma brought a blanket which had very special meaning to her family, and I was honoured to capture some images of Phoebe wrapped in it. Please always feel free to bring treasured belongings that you would like to include in the shoot – these can range from old battered teddy bears to daddy’s army medals.
My favourite image captured of Phoebe was in a beautiful vintage crate in a stunning cream handmade romper suit embellished with lace. To say that I have a large collection of outfits is an understatement… one recent client compared the studio to ‘an Aladdin’s cave of loveliness!’
We had a few breaks for feeds and cuddles, making sure that Phoebe was happy and settled before moving on. Newborn shoots take time and we never rush them, we run on the clock of the smallest person in the room, and they are in charge!
