Lara, Wildflowers and Palace Ruins… Capturing beauty in the unlikeliest locations!

Blog

I have just finished editing the gallery for an exciting shoot that I did at the weekend, and just wanted to share with you what goes on behind the scenes!

Lara is a beautiful young dancer, who contacted me looking for some action shots which were a little bit more interesting than a studio session.  I know of lots of interesting hidden gems tucked away that I use for my location sessions, so after a chat to understand what Lara was looking for, we booked in for the following week.

I love this time of the year, when everything is in beautiful bloom, and the grass is growing longer, and wildflowers are popping up.

A few days before the session with Lara, I drove past a roundabout with a beautiful assortment of wildflowers in the middle.  It was such a shot of beauty in such an unlikely location, that I knew it was crying out to be used in the shoot with Lara!

On the day of the session, Lara and I started in the studio capturing some beautiful images in front of a grey backdrop.  We then went on a road trip to the stunning Bishops Waltham Palace Ruins, and Lara – dressed in one of my selection of long tulle ballerina skirts – was simply the most fantastic model, beautifully jumping and pirouetting with the ancient ruins as a backdrop.

I then suggested my idea to Lara, who was a great sport and loved the idea of practising some dance jumps amongst the flowers.  As a portrait photographer, I am constantly seeing the beauty in random places, and I know that what I will be able to capture through the lens will look completely different to what we see when looking at a roundabout overrun with flowers!

We had a great morning and most importantly, Lara is delighted with the images.

If you would like more information on booking a session, please use the ‘Contact’ page on my website, or contact me via my social media pages.  I would love to hear from you!

When it comes to family photoshoots, we generally imagine a family portrait created within a studio, and yes, this is what indeed most of our clients come for and we are happy to provide as this is one of the most popular forms of family shoots.
